Environmental policy: NLMK Europe’s general principles

• Sustainable development to achieve balance between environment, economy and social engagement
• Legislation compliance on environmental protection
• Continuous development of the environmental work, including constant regard for the immediate environment, maximal prevention against harmful influence and – if these cannot be prevented – reducing emissions to the environment that have connections to our activities, especially regarding air, water, noise, waste and soil
• Development, improvement and establishment of production methods with the least possible impact on the environment
• Development and production with the environment in mind regarding the use and recycling
• Efficient use of natural resources and energy
• Prevention of waste production
• Optimising of utilization of our by-products and waste disposal
• Commitment from all employees and the management in particular to promote environmentally friendly production
• Increased environmental awareness through information and education
• Communication with all interested parties

Respect for the environment must be incorporated in all our new projects and in all our actions. We must first of all make our people environmentally conscious and reduce our harmful impact on a global level, particularly in relation to waste, waste water, atmospheric emissions and noise.
