Plates from production are transported to our modern storage halls. In the storage halls the plates are sorted and stacked. We use mostly magnet cranes for loading of trucks, wagons, and internal transport units.
Plates, which are to be transported by ships, are loaded on internal units and sorted in slings up to 10 tons. These are then transported to our harbour. The average loading capacity of our port crane is approximately 150 tonnes per hour. Extra wide claws are used for loading to avoid edge damage.
In order to ensure the highest quality of our products, all processes at NLMK DanSteel A/S, including handling, transportation and loading of steel plates, are performed in strict compliance with written regulations for each process.
The Logistics department has at its disposal 2 shunters, 3 Kiruna CT Trucks (articulated, elevating transporters for long, flat, and heavy materials) and 2 Kiruna Combi Trucks (articulated U-frame trucks for bulk materials handing).
The Kiruna Trucks are manufactured by GIA Industri AB, Sweden.
The fleet of loading accessories consists of 50 flat railway wagons and 220 heavy duty platforms for Kiruna Trucks.
Our Kiruna Trucks carry out more than 40.000 transports a year; half with empty units and half with loads up to 105 tonnes per unit.
In 2007 NLMK DanSteel A/S invested in 3 terminal tractors. Our Logistics Department uses 2 tractors of the type Mafi MT 32 and MT 36. Our Dispatch department use 1 tractor Mafi MT 25. In addition to this NLMK DanSteel A/S has leased 42 Mafi roll trailers.
The Logistics department also carries out a great number of service tasks such as steel scrap loading with Liebherr 974's, transport of semi-finished products, mobile crane tasks and various jobs for wheel loaders.
Gatekeepers are also a part of the Logistics department, where they are entrusted with normal gate- and security tasks. The Gatekeepers also have the responsibility of co-ordinating the internal transportation and operating the weighbridge.
All lorries, which transport plates to our customers, are weighted on our certified weighbridge.
The weighbridge, believed to be the biggest in Denmark, can handle a mass up to 340 tonnes.
The length is 22 meters, the width is 4 meters. The self-weight of the weighbridge deck is 110 tonnes and the deck rests on 10 pieces "45 tonnes" weigh cells. |
